IMPORTANT! PLEASE SHARE THESE GUIDELINES WITH YOUR GROUP!
The Beaver Brook Association (BBA) campsite, located approximately two-tenths of a mile from the end of Brown Lane, includes two bunkhouses, a cookhouse, well-house, campfire circle and portable toilet.
It is Beaver Brooks policy that your stay at our cabins includes an educational component. Beaver Brook will gladly suggest and/or supply programs (if requested at time of reservation). If interested, please call the office for program and guide rates.
The campsite is self-serve. BBA staff will leave a key in the wooden box located at the front of Brown Lane Barn (to the right of the front doors.) Directions for utilities can be found at propane tanks and well house and will be discussed during the walk through.
Campsite walk-throughs are mandatory. Please contact the Office (603-465-7787) to schedule a walk-through with a staff member (preferably within two weeks of your arrival date by an attending adult).
In case of emergency, CALL 911 or Hollis Communications Center at 465-2303. In urgent, non-emergency situations outside of Beaver Brook office hours, the Hollis Communcations Center can contact a BBA staff member if requested. All emergencies (serious injury, fire, etc.) must be reported to BBA office (465-7787).
If any damage and/or defacement should occur, BBA will hold the signed organization/group liable. Please report any damage to the office as soon as possible.
FOR A SAFE AND REWARDING EXPERIENCE, PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING:
Group Size:
The campsite can accommodate 22 people maximum by the order of the Hollis Fire Department. ANY EXCESS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND COULD RESULT IN DISMISSAL
Please have adult/youth ration 1/10.
Arrival Procedure:
Establish an arrival time in advance. Please contact the office of any time changes.
The key to all campsite buildings is located in the wooden box to the right of the Brown Lane Barn entrance.
VEHICLES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON WOODS ROADS, TRAILS, OR IN THE CAMPSITE.. Please remind group members that they must carry all gear and water (pack light).
Please note that all groups should park and enter at Brown Lane Barn (located off of Ridge Road). NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE.
Propane Tanks:
The tanks are located behind the cookhouse in a small shed attached to the building.
While at the Campsite :
To protect and preserve Beaver Brook land, the following activities ARE PROHIBITED while visiting our facilities:
* The use of alcohol and other drugs.
* Smoking.
* The cutting, picking and /or taking of plant specimens.
* DO NOT throw trash or other refuse in portable toilet.
* Dogs are permitted but must be leashed.
Campfires:
To help BBA prevent forest fires, campfires are permitted only inside the stone fire circle.
No bonfires please. BBA urges the conservation of wood.
Please use the wood provided by BBA. We discourage the gathering of wood as it will negatively impact the environment. (No cutting, please!)
The fire circle should be left free of sticks and trash; however, we ask that the ashes remain.
To help preserve our fire circle, please do not move the stones and/or use stone seating to break firewood.
Fire extinguishers are for emergency only. Please do not use to put out campfire.
Cabins:
Wood stoves are located in both cabins and the cookhouse (w/damper direction).
Instructions on how to use the stoves will be addressed during the mandatory "walk-through."
Because we hold group members fully responsible for the operation of the stoves, it would be best to have leaders review fire hazards and safety procedures.
Water Supply:
Drinking water is NOT available at the campsite. Please remind the campers that they must carry in all drinking water for their camping experience.
Your group may use the well water to extinguish fires and wash. Please use soap while using the water for washing and do not wash inside the well-house.
The well must be primed in order to use. Instructions are found in the well-house.
First Aid:
The group must provide their own first aid equipment.
Please research locations of hospital facilities in the area.
Departure:
Please clean the cabins and cookhouse before leaving
Sweep the bunks and floors (we'd appreciate washing if necessary!)
Remove trash (Hollis recycles).
Make sure the counters and sinks in the cookhouse are clean.
