What are the 5 Rs?
For a long time we have been taught about the 3 Rs, Reduce, Reuse Recycle – but now there’s two more. There are now 5 Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse or Repurpose, Rot (compost) Recycle, in that order.
The order of the Rs is also important. The closer to the beginning of the list, the better the option. Let’s take it from the top! Using role playing, sewing, a lesson with worms and compost, students will learn how to reduce their waste and their carbon footprint. It doesn’t seem overwhelming when we take small steps to change.
