For over 60 years, Beaver Brook has inspired a lasting connection to the natural world. There is a sense of belonging unique to Beaver Brook and it is that very sense of connection that we were founded and why this place remains so beloved. If you’ve ever wandered through these woods, you know its quiet power.

Today, we have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to ensure that Beaver Brook continues to serve our community for generations to come. This campaign is about taking care of what we have, while making thoughtful improvements that allow more people to experience it in meaningful ways.

You may hear us use the word transforming when we talk about this campaign.
What we mean is this:

We’re not changing what makes Beaver Brook special—we’re strengthening it.
We’re investing in the spaces, infrastructure, and resources that support the programs, trails, and experiences people already love. This is about preserving Beaver Brook by preparing it for the future.

Since 1964, Beaver Brook has grown into one of the region’s most valued land trusts and environmental education centers.

The experiences people have here on the trails and in our programs don’t end when they leave. They stay with them, shaping how they understand and care for the natural world over a lifetime.

This campaign strengthens that connection by creating a bridge between generations so that what has mattered here for decades continues to matter for decades to come.

What’s Needed Now

Behind the scenes, many of the spaces and systems that support Beaver Brook are no longer keeping pace with demand:

  • Facilities that limit year-round programming
  • Inadequate space for teaching and storage
  • Parking and access challenges for families and school groups
  • Aging infrastructure nearing the end of its lifespan

We’re already seeing the impact:

Last year, summer camp filled quickly with over 70 children on the waitlist. Other programs are experiencing the same.

Without investment, we risk limiting access to the very experiences that make Beaver Brook so meaningful.

Phase 1: Education Center & Critical Infrastructure – NOW OPEN!

This campaign focuses on practical, thoughtful improvements that will support Beaver Brook today—and into the future.

Nashua PAL's partnership with Beaver Brook has given our kids the opportunity to explore and learn about nature through hands-on activities. From learning about maple syrup production, or even our overnight camping trips, the kids are always excited to get outside and learn with the guidance from the staff of Beaver Brook.

We understand that supporters may have questions about the Transforming Beaver Brook
campaign. This frequently asked questions (FAQ) is designed to provide clear, concise answers
about the project, funding needs, and meaningful ways to get involved.

What safety and accessibility upgrades are included in the project?

This project modernizes Beaver Brook’s core facilities to ensure safe, accessible, and environmentally responsible public access. Improvements include expanded parking to reduce congestion, safe bus access for school and camp groups, and infrastructure that protects sensitive wetlands. All upgrades are designed to balance visitor access with longterm conservation.

How long will construction take, and will it be phased?

The project is divided into two phases. Phase I is the construction of an entirely new building, the Education Center and critical site work. Construction began in Fall 2025 and is expected to be complete in Summer 2026. The Education Center includes three classrooms and a storage area. Phase II, the Farmhouse and the “Elle” will include renovated staff offices, a dedicated Welcome Center, and a new second-floor meeting space with capacity for approximately 100 people. These improvements will allow Beaver Brook to better serve schools, families, and community groups year-round.

What are the anticipated revenue sources for the project?

The Transforming Beaver Brook Campaign is funded 100% by the community, with support from individuals, families, businesses, and charitable foundations. Grants from foundations and banks will make up roughly 10% of the total campaign goal.

What types of gifts does Beaver Brook accept?

Beaver Brook accepts a variety of charitable gifts including Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), Gifts of Stock, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from your IRA and Matching Gifts. You can also make a gift online. Please see our ways to give form for more information.

Can I make my gift over a period of time?

Yes. We have a three year pledge set up for the campaign. For many, a pledge is the preferred way to make a generous gift. It allows you to pay later or spread out your payments over multiple months or years, which may allow you to donate more than if you had to make your gift all at once. As the donor, you can specify the payment schedule you wish. To pledge your support for the Transforming Beaver Brook campaign, please download and complete the pledge form. Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. Beaver Brook Association is a charitable non-profit with 501(c)(3) designation by the IRS. Donors can feel secure if they choose to incorporate a gift with their tax planning goals. All donations will receive a letter documenting their contribution to Beaver Brook Association.
